The Grip of Golf in My Life and the allure of Gleneagles

Do you ever have a passion that takes a true grip of your life? For me, that passion is golf. Living in the beautiful region of Perthshire in Scotland, I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by some of the most picturesque golf courses in the world. Not only that, but being thirty minutes away from Gleneagles and just an hour away from the iconic St Andrews, the home of golf, adds an extra special element to my golfing experience.

Perthshire: A Golfer's Paradise

Perthshire is a golfer's paradise, with its rolling hills, lush green landscapes, and a myriad of golf courses to choose from including Gleneagles with its three fantastic golf courses and great restaurants. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, there is something for everyone here. Being a James Braid enthusiast the King’s course is of course a personal favourite. Perthshire truly offers a golfing experience like no other.

A Stone's Throw from St Andrews

As a golf enthusiast, having the opportunity to play at St Andrews is a dream come true. This historic town is revered as the birthplace of golf and is home to the oldest golf course in the world. Just an hour's drive from Perthshire, a pilgrimage to St Andrews is a must for any golf lover. Walking the hallowed grounds of the Old Course and teeing off where legends have played before is an experience that is truly unmatched.

The Thrill of Playing Golf in the USA

While Perthshire has its fair share of fantastic golf courses, I also enjoy the thrill of playing on a variety of courses in the United States. Each year, I embark on a golfing adventure across different states, exploring the diverse landscapes and challenging courses that this golfing haven has to offer. From the lush fairways of Connecticut to the Island holes in Ponte Vedra, playing golf in the USA is an entirely different experience that I cherish.

Final Thoughts

Golf has undoubtedly taken a grip of my life, fuelling my desire to explore new courses and seek out new challenges. Inspiration for my art is found everywhere and I love my new piece of work based on Gleneagles King's Course. However, my favourite parts of a course may not be yours so if you would like to commission a piece of work with your favourite course elements then please get in touch.

Living in Perthshire, with its incredible golf courses and proximity to St Andrews, has only deepened my love for the game. And every year, the temptation to venture across the pond and test my skills on the golf courses of the USA becomes even stronger.

So, if you're a fellow golf enthusiast or someone looking to embrace the allure of the sport, I highly recommend immersing yourself in the golfing wonderland that is Perthshire and in particular Gleneagles.
